Fund an overseas degree including tuition, living costs and travel, with a moratorium through the course.
An overseas education loan is larger, more complex and more time-sensitive than a domestic one. Visa deadlines make timing critical, so the file should be started well before the offer arrives.
Many countries require proof of funds at the visa stage, and a sanction letter is normally accepted for that. Begin the process as soon as you have a conditional offer. Waiting for the final admission letter leaves too little time and is the most common cause of avoidable stress.
Tuition, living expenses, airfare, health insurance, a laptop and equipment, and the mandatory deposits some universities require. Lenders fund 80% to 90% of the total cost, and you bring the balance as margin.
Unsecured loans up to roughly ₹40 lakh to ₹50 lakh are available from NBFCs and some private banks for students admitted to well-ranked universities, priced around 11% to 13.5%. A loan secured against property costs meaningfully less, usually 9% to 11%, and allows a larger amount. For a large loan, the saving from pledging property is substantial.
You borrow in rupees and spend in dollars, pounds or euros. If the rupee weakens during your course, your remaining fees cost more in rupee terms. Build a buffer of 10% to 15% into your planning rather than budgeting to the last rupee.
We work backwards from your visa date, structure the file to meet the proof-of-funds requirement in time, and compare the true cost of secured against unsecured for your specific amount and country.
Most countries accept a bank sanction letter as proof of funds. Timing the sanction to your visa appointment is critical.
Not just tuition. Accommodation, insurance, travel, a laptop and university deposits are all normally within scope.
Unsecured up to about ₹50 lakh for strong universities. A property-backed loan costs 2% to 3% less and allows a larger amount.
The entire interest is deductible with no upper limit for up to eight years from the start of repayment.
